~Mark TwainThe trouble with using experience as a guide is that the final exam often comes first and then the lesson.

It can really help to have at least one other peer, or friend, who is willing to say "no," too. This takes a lot of the power out of peer pressure and makes it much easier to resist. It's great to have friends with values similar to yours who will back you up when you don't want to do something.

I remember hating that costume, but today I would kill to have it....

~Author UnknownGood judgment comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgment.
Thanks, Amanda! I’m sure a lot of our issues stemmed from it being a 50-year-old trailer with different construction, less width and weight, and a smaller vehicle. I don’t think the Hensley would have worked on our old girl – we had a shorter tongue than the new trailers, and after some research, went with the standard bar-type weight and sway system since that’s what fit best.

I have vivid memories of one night which occurred many years ago.

~Rita Mae BrownIf experience was so important, we'd never have had anyone walk on the moon.
Memory is related to but distinct from learning, which is the process by which we acquire knowledge of the world and modify our subsequent behaviour. During learning, that fire together to produce a particular experience are altered so that they have a tendency to fire together again. For example, we learn a new language by studying it, but we then speak it by using our memory to the words that we have learned. Thus, memory depends on learning because it lets us and learned information. But learning also depends to some extent on memory, in that the knowledge stored in our memory provides the framework to which new knowledge is linked by association and inference. This ability of humans to call on past memories in order to imagine the future and to plan future courses of action is a hugely advantageous attribute in our survival and development as a species.

~Oscar Wilde, , 1896Do you know the difference between education and experience?
The accounts we considered above, first of the temporal restrictionson our experience, and secondly of our experience of time order, didnot explicitly appeal to tensed, or A-theoretic notions. The facts we did appeal tolook like purely B-theoretic ones: that causes are always earlier thantheir effects, that things typically change slowly in relation to thespeed of transmission of light and sound, that ourinformation-processing capacities are limited, and that there can becausal connections between memories and experiences. So it may be thatthe tenseless theorist can discharge the obligation to explain whytime seems to pass. But two doubts remain. First, perhaps the A-theorist can produce a simpler explanation of our experience. Second,it may turn out that supposedly B-series facts are dependent uponA-series ones, so that, for example, a and b aresimultaneous by virtue of the fact that both are present.

On the other hand false memories can have positive effects too.

Cramped in a station wagon between my three other brothers in the back seat, I remember the car ride to seemingly take triple the amount of time it really took.
