Tableau’s strength lies in enabling novice users to create instant, real-time dashboards. Its intuitive, visually driven interactive data-exploration platform can easily transform the ordinary business user into a “data superhero.” Powerful features like filters and drill-down analysis are only matters of a few clicks. Tableau also enables seamless sharing of dashboards on Tableau Server or Tableau Online. Like a good doctor, the Tableau executive dashboard can provide a reality check for your business’ health, and can send alerts in times of emergencies. The filter panels on a dashboard can facilitate further navigation of the data with custom parameters, giving you greater control over your information. The interactivity of these dashboards enables a powerful decision-support system to busy executives looking for quick solutions to day-to-day problems.

Half Marathon Training - Hal Higdon Training Programs

THE HALF MARATHON IS A FRIENDLY DISTANCE. Beginners, who have gotten their introduction to road running in a 5-K or 10-K, can look to the half as the next step upward. Experienced runners like half marathons, because training for and racing 13 miles requires somewhat less time commitment than does a full 26.

The excitement around half marathons often is the same as at a marathon--except you get to go home early. Also, you can use half marathon races as part of your training for later marathons. Knowing your time at the half gives you a good idea of what to expect when you run the full marathon. This is why more than four times as many runners now run half marathons vs. full marathons.

To plan your training program for the half marathon, click on one of the appropriate links on the accompanying menu. For more detailed instructions plus extra training advice and tips, consider signing up for one of my Interactive programs, available through . For twelve weeks, I will send you daily emails telling you how to train. Consider also acquiring a copy of my latest book, Hal Higdon's Half Marathon Training, available from .

The modern-day audience is not happy with just glossy interactive graphics. They want more—they want graphics that analyze the presented data and tell a story! So, the graphics-heavy documents cannot simply contain visual elements; the graphics must be neatly integrated to show insights or trends and patterns that are obviously visible to both the expert and the novice. In this context, two visualization tools worth mentioning are QlikView and Tableau, both of which have been defined as leaders in Gartner’s 2014 Magic Quadrant. Both these tools have scaled beyond the average capabilities of embellishing the text with glossy, interactive dashboards and ad-hoc reports.
